As I sat down to research Valentine’s Day gift ideas for my boyfriend I realized that shopping for a man is harder than it looks. I’ve been dating my boyfriend Domenic for a little over two years now and he is not picky when it comes to gifts, but that didn’t make finding him something any easier. I went on Amazon’s men’s gift guide and realized quickly that their ideas lacked emotion. Do I agree that every man needs a tool set, yes. But do I think that buying my boyfriend a “grooming kit” is necessarily romantic, no. That’s why I decided to make my own Valentine’s gift guide to possibly help anyone else struggling to find that “perfect gift”.
Event Guide: For our first major holiday together Domenic bought me tickets to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers in concert and I was over the moon. But what made it better was the fact that we both loved the band, and it was a memory for both of us to share together. Ever since that gift, we made a pact that concerts, sporting events or city functions were the ultimate gifts to give to each other. I use sites like Ticket Master to purchase tickets, but I have been LOVING the Facebook event application. This application on Facebook allows you to enter your zip code and put a radius on how far you’d like to drive for events coming up in the month. It gives you a ton of event options to choose from as well as where to get tickets. I follow the event updates for Miami and it keeps us busy every weekend with new adventures.
I also realized that if you are in your early twenties you’re probably in “saving” mode and balling on a major budget. If that sounds correct then a perfect gift for your significant other would be a quiet night in. My first Valentine’s Day spent with my boyfriend was one for the books. He cooked me a three-course meal, brought me flowers and wine, and let me pick the movie out. Which c’mon ladies what more could you want? That got me to thinking that maybe a good gift for your boyfriend would be a cheesy coupon for a homemade meal and movie night. Below are some of my favorite meals to cook that are easy and give good step by step instructions.
Brown Sugar Flank Steak - PERSONAL FAVORITE
Steak and Tarragon Mushrooms - PERSONAL FAVORITE
If you are more into giving physical gifts I have also linked some cool products that my boyfriend specifically picked out and are linked below. I hope this gift guide was helpful to those of you who struggle in the gift giving department. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Customizable Yeti’s - Great for a man who loves to represent his favorite sports team.
Boxer Briefs - Something men don’t usually like buying themselves.
Cologne - My personal favorite scent at a great price on Amazon right now.
Wine Gift Set - Great for a man who loves good red wine.
Thought I would also give you guys a sneak peak of what I wore last year for Valentine’s Day. My boyfriend and I went to a romantic Italian restaurant so I thought wearing something sexy yet classy would be the perfect fit. I love how this dress fits my longer silhouette perfectly and has tiny roses patterned on the classic black color. I paired this look with simple gold hoops and pulled my hair back with a fun red scrunchie to showcase my face more.
